Any chance one of you could work your magic to generate a new version of meteo? The source should all be in place. |

Where can this update be found? The meteo web site still shows 1.5.0. -- Gary |

I've updated the code base for version 1.5.1 which includes: v1.5.1 - Fixed "Forecast - Link". - Radar Image is now a hyperlink. - Fixed distance to allow global units. - German localization updates - Japanese localization updates - Fixed memory leaks - Fixed crash on 10.3 systems - Restored 9 day forecasts |

I know this is an older question/issue but what is involved to be licensed to use weather.com data? I remember something about both cost and license restrictions. |

SourceForge has a help page describing all the ways to manage the web service: <http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/Project%20web> I followed the guidelines there (The tricky bit to notice is that one's username is qualified by the projectname, so I used the URL sftp://datawrangler,hea...@we... to gain access) to start an SFTP session with my preferred client, Interarchy. Meteorologist watches the XML file at /version.xml , so I edited it with my preferred editor, BBEdit. It only contains the one datum, so no sweat. While I was there, I edited /index.html to announce the new version number, but I was short on time, so I didn't add an entry to "Latest News". My office copy of Meteorologist started barking for the new version as soon as I began work. |

I wanted to comment that I'm nowhere on fixing any memory leaks. I moved current conditions, radar image, alerts, and forecast into their own separate routines and renamed numerous variables with the hope of isolating what is going wrong. On my test machine I also turned off all extra cities, extended forecast, radar, etc. That has provided me no real guidance. I can get to no leaks upon initial launch but when the first refresh is done, boom, 9 leaks. And it expands from there. I did NOT checkin any of my test code. I don't not think any of my changes for the past couple of releases have caused any of the leaks but they certainly exacerbated the problem. I'm all but giving up on this. Perhaps somebody else has more experience and can figure out what is going on. |

Funny .. someone on the crew updated the home page to announce the new version, but it wasn't me. Here's what I did to update the version.xml document (and the webpage as well). I start an SFTP session with host: web.sourceforge.net I log in as <username>,heat-meteo My password is just my toplevel sourceforge <username> password The path is /home/groups/h/he/heat-meteo/htdocs That should be all you need to gain read/write access to <http://heat-meteo.sourceforge.net/>. The other thing I was going to suggest. When Meteo comes up and tells you there is a new version available. You can click Cancel or Visit Web Site. What would you (collective) thing of Meteo quitting if you click on the Visit Web Site button? Rich - It sounds like you need to document how to update the version.xml file so Joe can stick that into the document he is working on for how to build the distribution release. I'd completed the unified NIB file and got the localization file updated for French. I still need to update the localization.strings file for both German and Spanish. Cool, thanks Ed. Feel free to commit your changes. Did you ever get svn configured? Do you need r/w access? I put a build_dmg.sh script in svn to generate a dmg for distro. I'm hoping to integrate further with upload, etc. going forward. Also, it might be nice to upgrade the website to something a bit more maintainable (e.g. wordpress) and the bug/ticking system to something like Trac. Sourceforge has started to support these systems with a single-click install. Thoughts? I've been continuing with some minor updates to Meteo (1.5.0). I'm redoing the MainMenu.nib file. It was set up a little clumsy. When I updated the NIB for weather alerts, I had to update the NIB for each language rather than one NIB and just updating the Locatlization.strings file. I'm fixing that so there will be only one NIB but the multiple localization files. Not that it is very big, but it should make the app a little smaller. I also updated the radar image display again. I ran into two additional problems. One was another staggered image and one was another clipped image. Diamondsw has one outstanding problem. I'm going to work with him to see what is going on. Turns out he lives about a mile from me! Small world. Lastly I updated the alert text so it includes an HTML link. Personally I have Meteo send me a text message when a weather alert is issued and with the HTML link I can click to see the details of the alert. Kind of cool. I probably won't be done with these tasks for another week or two. I've not been publishing my changes anywhere other than to my own computers. Just letting you know what I've been up to. Ed |

If you are already working on this, it can all wait to "next time".
