I use gwyddion in order to look at image files generated during STM. Since I would like to study local electronic state properties in my samples, I want to be able to take several point spectra (dI/dV data) over the region of a scan image. I use a program called GXSM in order to control the microscope. Now, the scan outputs of the software are in the form of netCDF files (.nc), which work perfectly with gwyddion. However, the program only generates point spectroscopy data as a simple text file, with data in two (X & Y) columns (and other than this, there is some amount of information about the sample, and things like that).
Now, for my analysis, I would like to import the data into gwyddion into the appropriate locations of the scan (with correct X & Y coordinates). So my questions are:
What is the correct and suitable data format in order to import such spectroscopy data into gwyiddion?
How do I import the data into the gwyddion image? Is it through File merging? If so, how do I inform the software about the location at which the point spectra was taken, so that it is recorded properly in the right location in the scan, so that it can easily be seen later?
Thank you for your attention. I apologize if the answers to these questions are obvious, as I am just learning the software now.
PS: It would be extremely helpful if an example file/image with point spectroscopy data is given as well, along with directions on how the file was made by merging the graphs.

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Could you please attach an example of the spectroscopy file? If it contains the coordinates as well as the actual curve(s), the best way is that I will add a new file import module for these files.
Otherwise, you are right, you need to use Merge to combine spectra files with image data.
If you did not care about the locations the files could be probably simply imported as graph curves (maybe after deleting some header; hard to tell without seeing any). Gwyddion has import modules for raw image data or curves, but spectra are... complicated. So currently the only way of importing them is from some supported file format.
