Hello, we are really unable to add support for a new file format based just on the information that it exists. Please provide the requested information.

Hello
I have recently discovered Gwyddion and found it great !
I have the same request for Bruker profilometer Dektak XT 2D. I have attached on the link below one raw datafile, and both screen copy and csv export of the profile (it's only a 1-line profile, not a pseudo-3D profile). Hope that'll help. http://tinyurl.com/h9maea5
Thanks for your work,
Erwann

I would love to help add OPDx 2D files to gwyddion, but I am unsure where to start. I already have some code that loads all files I have tried in my own program, but would really like to load them into gwyddion to take advantage of all its tools.
Please send me a message if you have the time and I can give you the code along with my knowledge of the format.

Working code would be certainly helpful. The thing I need primarily is some 2D OPDx file though. I do not have any. If you can provide some (e.g. by attaching it here, if it is not secret) I can start looking into it.

Thanks for the 2D file. Gwyddion should read 2D OPDx files from tomorrow's development snapshot (2.47.20170419). Please check with more files.
I did not use anything from the code at the end as Gwyddion already contains a fairly complete parser of the OPDx binary serialisation format, so I just added support for the data types not present in 1D files.

I am using version 2.52 on Ubuntu 16.04, but I still cannot read 2D OPDx files. (I was able to open the file uploaded by Ryan Sellers.) The error messeage is "Data type 69 is invalid or unsupported." While I might be doing something wrong, there may be still a OPDx file that cannot be read in Gwyddion. It would be great if somebody can take a look on it. I have attached a sample file that I couldn't read.
This file contains some kind of data representation we have not seen (and reverse-engineered) yet. It would be helpful if you could also attach the same data saved in the XML format as I do not have an easy access to a Dektak instrument.

I figured out how to read the data type 69, at least as far as the bits and bytes are concerned... I cannot tell if height the values are all right. Please try tomorrow's or later development snapshot of Gwyddion and check if your files are loaded correctly -- and if they are not, provide information what they should look like.

Hi,
has anybody already tried to import .OPDx files generated by a Bruker Dektak XT? Is there a procedure to import them via the raw files import?
Thanks in advance
zilon
To get a new file format supported by Gwyddion please follow Why I cannot load my microscope files? and the next FAQ entry.

Current development snapshots should already open 1D files.
If you are willing to help with 2D files it should be possible to implement them as well.

Sorry for the delay, here is an example file. I have included the code I use. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can be helpful at all.
It seems like there is some header data and footer data around the image data, and possibly several images in a single file.

Awesome! Thanks for the help!
