Hello, I have orphaned files. Here's the story that may help you help me diagnose the cause of my having orphaned files. On one computer, I synced my iPod with gtkpod. Then I got a newer computer. At first, on this newer computer, I was using the default program, Rythymbox to add to and remove music files from the iPod. Then, on this same newer computer, I installed gtkpod (from the repositories; I use Ubuntu 7.04), version 0.99.8. I think this is the time when I started having the orphaned files. When I checked my iPod, I now see duplicates for some songs. What is causing the duplicates? I noticed that some (I did not check all) duplicates on my iPod are also on the Orphaned list. Are all the fies in the orphaned list duplicates? If not, do I have to manually go over the Orphaned list one by one to weed (remove) the duplicate files? Or maybe I should start by asking, What are orphaned files? What caused me to have orphaned files? I'm guessing that maybe it's because I'm trying to use more 2 programs (gtkpod, rythymbox) to sync my iPod. Is my guess correct? Thanks. |
