When a user tries to exit and you say there are unsaved changes, you > could explicitly also say: Use Sync button to sync to ipod and Save > button to save local changes to disk... I've read the dialogue that > comes up in the past and not known what to do about it as I could not > sync to the ipod at the time Yes... I'm planning to rework the sync and exit procedure -- telling you about each database that was not saved, and offering to save it. A small icon next to the database entry should be nice as well (similar to 'eject', only, of course, eject hardly ever works unless you are root). In the same run I'd also try to add functions that let you add additional databases (like a second iPod you want to mount at the same time, or further local databases). The first and easy step probably would be to rename 'Sync' to 'Save Changes'....
