Hi I recently downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and the gtkpod program. I am new to both programs and am trying to figure out how to export the files from my ipod to my Toshiba running Ubuntu. I have either of 4th or 5th gen iPod (can't remember), but it is 60 gigs, has color screen and video capability, and i *think* it's the first time they offered a black color model. Anyway, gtkpod recognizes and mounts my ipod but it won't play tracks off of it or reliably export tracks from it. I have tried many different variations of selecting tracks on the ipod and attempting to export them to folders on my laptops harddisc using the "Export tracks from database" button in the "music" menu. When I select all of the tracks on the ipod and ask it to export in this way, it only copies the first 78 tracks from the ipod in alphabetical order. Weird? If I ask it to export one or two tracks at a time it will work, but any large number of tracks obscures functionality and only a selection of the tracks are copied. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I would love to keep by comp strictly linux based and not go through my 15,000 song library 10 tracks at a time in order to get it onto my computer! Everything so far has been smooth except this ipod problem. Thank you very much Nicholas |
