[GridSim-users] How to create groups?

Is it possible to divide distributed system into groups using Gridsim??

I want to evaluate performance of dynamic load balancing algorithm using
gridsim......however, algorithm first divides system into some groups. So
kindly guide me that how groups can be created??

Hello,

I am trying to implement data grid with two DataGridResource ( names :
DataCluster_1 and DataCluster_2), one TopRegionalRC, four GridResources (
names : Cluster_1, Cluster_2, Cluster_3 and Cluster_4) and four routers to
connect all the entities.

I have referred* datagrid.example03* of gridsim to implement above mentioned
grid. But when I run my simulation, I get following error continuously
without any progress in simulation

[GridSim-users] Clock Problem in Resource Failure Scenario

Hi
I have implemented an advance reservation environment, which is customised for my needs.
It works fine. Now I am trying to add resource failure feature. It is not working properly. 
The problem is if a resource is set to be failed at certain clock interval, it doesn't fail at the specified time.
Like if the failure timing is between clock 750 and 1385. It will only occur at 1385. Similarly there are other time intervals as well when 
same behaviour is noticed. Resource polling event occurs in the intervals I mentioned but not the failure event. I could not find the reason for this, could it be a bug or some race condition.
One more thing, the event is stored with correct time but its retrieval from future event queue is late.

Help is much appreciated. It is very important.

[GridSim-users] newly created entities in the middle of simulation : not considering newly created events!!

Dear all,

In my work, during simulation, I need to create new entities (other than user or resource entity. e.g. auction entity) based on initially created entities results. The entities are created in middle of simulation. However, newly created events are not considering by the Systems. Hence, attempting "No more future events.."
Please note that I am aware of "shutdownUserEntity".

Is there anyone to help in this regard?

[GridSim-users] running an experiment multiple times

Currently I am working on auction models in gridsim(beta 5) as a part of my PhD.
I am trying to run the example03 under auction multiple times. However, first time I get the results (e.g. receiveJobs.size()) rightly and second time onwards, I only received 0.
Would you please let me know, where is the actual problem for such a case.

Hi Augustin,

Thanks for the reply. I played a little bit with these params, but was not
successful. Since this is an example to demo resource failures, I thought
the given numbers will make some resources to fail automatically in this
test.

In this case, all u have to do is modify the processGridletReturn() 
function (as called in GridUserFailureEx01.java class) to do what u 
want. This function is called when a gridlet is received, and 
essentially it collects statistics about the just received gridlet. Now, 
u have to modify it to submit the next gridlet.

Besides, u also have to modify the body() function, because by now it 
submits a gridlet when a GRIDLET_SUBMIT event. Now, u remove this part 
and submit gridlets as I mentioned above.

[GridSim-users] Questions about one simple scenario of GridSim

Hi,
i'm a student from LMU München that are focusing on the GridSim for my
thesis project.

I have questions to submit to you.
i have a simple network with three Regional Gis and the scenario is the
follow:

In the Rgis0 i have user0 that submit the gridlet to the resource0,

resource0 --- router0 --- user0 (with gridlet0)    <--- Rgis0
|
|
|
resource1 --- router1   <--- Rgis1
|
|
|
resource2 --- router2   <--- Rgis2


   - I want that the gridlet0 be executed by the resource2 that is in the
   Rgis2, passing by Rgis1. Is it possible?


   - With this scenario, if I specify that i want to submit the gridlet0 to
   the resource2 (that is in the Rgis2), is it necesary specify that it have to
   pass to Rgis1 or the GridSim crosses automatically the Rgis1?


   - And then is it possible to obtain the time of the passage between the
   different Rgis and the total return time at user0?

I am finding a problem while implementing in GridSim.



1.It was there in examples to have length,output file size and input file size can be considered for each job.I would like to add two more members that is,expected execution time,expected communication time for each job/Gridlets .

2.How can I sort the created jobs/Gridlets in a particular order.(Example sorting of jobs in decreasing order of its job length)
