Dear, 
The body method is the method that make and keep your entity alive during the simulation.
Using a body method for communicating is a recommended way, I tried once direct calling of a method of user 
entity from within resource entity, it created problems rather than solving it.

Dear,
Follow the RIPRouter.java file in gridsim.net package and see how the RIP is implemented.
It will give you the idea where to put your routing protocol.
I would suggest create your own router, add/modify things accordingly. You may have to change the super class 
and/or other classes like packet scheduler, link classes and others.

I hope it will help.

one of my colleagues is using GridSim. She is developing a specific 
broker and has obtained good results so far.
Thanks the development team for GridSim, by the bay...

We have now, however, a problem because we want use real numbers.

In some points we can define channel baud rates, MIPS, and so far... We 
assumed first that the base time unit was "seconds" based on some 
comments in the Example codes.

rowsing SimJava and GridSim documentation we have noticed slightly 
different references regarding time: (abstract) "time units", seconds 
and miliseconds as references.

Here is the problem: in some points we have to define delays:

In the line bellow, we are delaying 20 seconds? 20 milliseconds? or 
simply 20 time units?
super.gridSimHold(20);

In the line bellow, the event engine will delay 60*60 seconds before 
queuing the event or 60 minutes?
super.send(get_id(), 60.0*60.0, GridSimTags.BROKER_TICK);

These delays have to be consistent with the other parameteres (baud 
rate, processor MIPS) and this with the size of a "Gridlet to be 
executed in a GridResource (unit: in MI)"... That is, if the base time 
is an abstract time unit, how the time-dependant parameter are coherent? 
I am assuming that all time is based on the SimGrid time base (obtained 
by the clock() method).

Cold any one give us a hint?

Another question. Our broker needs to cancel a Gridlet (actually we 
cancel it in the Resource but our broker maintains a reference to it and 
resume it afterwards sending it again to the Resource ...). We have two 
ways to do this:

we can invoke a method on the AllocationPolicy object attached to the 
Resource or we can send an event asking this.
Ex.: super.scheduler_.gridletCancel(gridletSuspensoID, 
gridletSuspensoUserID);

Question, the difference is only the transporting mechanism, the 
cancellation method is the same, isnt it? And, the cancellation actually 
purges the Gridlet from the Resource? And how about the execution time 
registered in the Gridlet? What happens? There is an inclusion in the 
Gridlet code which deals with this problem (but was coded considering 
the Gridled wouldnt "leave" the Resource... our case is a little bit 
different.

Hi, guys! I'm a little bit confused when I use Gridsim to simulate the ACO
algorithm, and I really need some help. I've seen a lot of paper that using
Gridsim to simulate ACO, but unfortunately, none of them have point out the
technical detail of the simulation( they just directly give some experiment
results). My question is, whether I should wait for the best result of ACO
and then put the result to the Gridsim to test it, or my ACO implementation
should use Gridsim's information, such as GIS, to determine the behavior of
the ants?

I'm usign GridSim5.2 to implement a generic federated grid.
I have developed my own classes including the class AllocationPolicy, that
extends AllocPolicy class.
Instead of implement this new class from scrach, I have modified some of
the SpaceShared class methods.
However, other methods remain the same, for example, "private void *
gridletFinish*(ResGridlet rgl, int status)".
This method invokes super.*sendFinishGridlet*( rgl.getGridlet() ); method
as soon as a gridlet finishes its execution.
Finally, sendFinishGridlet method invokes the super.*sim_schedule*(outputPort_,
0, GridSimTags.GRIDLET_RETURN, obj);
method of Sim_entity class.

However, I have discovered that in some cases there are gridlets whose
ending is reported much later.
Their status is SUCCESS, but their owners received the completion of the
gridlet even 3000 seconds later (simulation time).
Here you have part of the trace output of one simulation:

I have a few basic queries regarding the functionalities of GridSim.

I am currently pursuing my MTech in CSE from VIT University, Vellore,
India. I am planning to do a research on the various scheduling algorithms
in a Distributed System. I would like to know how much will GridSim be
helpful to me for this simulation and study or should I go with some other
tool.. Also how do I go about it.

Please do give me some valuable guidance, white papers, links, etc.

And i was wondering if it'is possible to have information about memory usage of Resources, and if it's possible to set swap memory?. so far i could only be able to collect information about the cpu represented by processing elments (PE). Is anyone can help me solve this issue?

I am working in grid authorization, we are designing a fine-grained access control mechanism which need to be adopted in VOMS or Akenti authorization system. Thus, we need to alter VOMS or Akenti in order to experiment our schema. However, I am wondering whether we can avoid that overhead work by using GridSim, does GridSim has the facility to alter in the authorization process of VOMS/Akenti or not?
