This is a strange bug that I encountered while running Gretl 1.9.5 portable of my usb drive using gretlnet.txt. I ran the program opened a file and in the Model->Time series menu i encountered that there some options missing. Those options missing were ARCH, GARCH, Vector Autoregression, Var lag selection, VECM, Cointegration test (anything bellow ARIMA). I suspect that the missing menus are because the portable version is conflicting with an older version of gretl installed on the computer (1.9.2). The older version was installed using admin right and so it cannot be removed. I suspect some registry entries might be at play. I can run the models using command line although I get a weird printout when i do GARCH (see attached images).

[This action is part of a little round of maintenance, sorry for the delay.]

I don't think that gretl is actually currently promising to be used in parallel with an installed and the portable version, so I'm regarding this as a request for such an additional feature instead of a bug. Therefore moving this from the bugs list to the feature requests list.

    thanks,
    sven

Hm, Allin could you comment on whether there is some hope to avoid a clash between an installed an a portable version? I tend to think now that it is either a bug, or it is simply unavoidable and thus not a feature request; but I am unsure which.

    thanks,
    sven

Ping again -- Allin, if you think the problem is unavoidable I will close this. Please tell us what you think.

Ok, the gretl version of the original description is so old now that I tend to think the problem may have disappeared anyway. Also never heard anything about this anymore, so I'm closing this. If we get new reports on this for newer gretl versions we can reopen it.
    thanks,
    sven
