Zurd-- Thanks for the GPL-3 update. Though I am not a developer and may not fully understand the issues involved, I have tried to follow the discussions and based upon what I have read and understood, I find myself among those strongly supporting GPL-3. Thank you as well for taking a look at the 'lost feature' of remembering or obeying a pointer to a startup directory. Unfortunately, with build 151 I find GPRename still comes up in my user home directory, no matter what directory I was in when I last closed the program. Note that the KMenu entry defines a specific (valid, permission-correct) startup directory under 'Work path:' ... which the program ignores. Finally, perhaps I have too long pursued activities alleged to promote blindness, but I don't see on the wiki page or the website homepage a SVN url that works from the command line. The entry in both is: http://gprename.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gprename ...but this url fails for me. The url which works, and which I was fortunate enough to find still in my history buffer, is: https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gprename /usr/local/gprename Am I doing something wrong? Normally for such things I use, at the beginning: svn checkout https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gprename /usr/local/gprename ... with 'checkout' replaced by 'update' or simply 'up' in subsequent revisions until a new checkout/co becomes necessary. --- Zurd <zu...@ya...> wrote: > In revision 150 I change the license from GPL-2 to > GPL-3. > > This will definitely not affect anything, it just to > say > that gprename is always updated :-) > > > Cheers > ____________________________________________________________________________________ Boardwalk for $500? In revision 150 I change the license from GPL-2 to GPL-3. This will definitely not affect anything, it just to say that gprename is always updated :-) Cheers Faites des appels de PC à PC dans le monde entier ! Essayez le nouveau Yahoo! Québec Messenger avec Voix. http://cf.messenger.yahoo.com/ |

I just committed the new revision 149 which fix this issue. So there's now 3 ways of opening gprename, if you're in /somewhere : gprename /somewhere/here (will open in /somewhere/here) gprename here (will open in /somewhere/here) gprename (will open in /somewhere) > If you're using a GUI to call gprename, you can always update > the menu, change the Run command from 'gprename' to 'gprename /somewhere/here'. > > Or in console, you can always create and alias for the same thing. > > > --- Lacrocivious Acrophosist <alt...@ya...> a écrit : > > > A few revisions ago, I noticed that GPRename stopped > > remembering the directory I want it to display upon > > opening. I remember vaguely about this, could you elaborate more? For now, if you're in a console, it will open wherever you are with the pwd command or you can call 'gprename /somewhere/here' to open it there. But if you're in /somewhere and you call 'gprename here' then this won't work, I'll try to fix this today. If you're using a GUI to call gprename, you can always update the menu, change the Run command from 'gprename' to 'gprename /somewhere/here'. Or in console, you can always create and alias for the same thing. --- Lacrocivious Acrophosist <alt...@ya...> a écrit : > A few revisions ago, I noticed that GPRename stopped > remembering the directory I want it to display upon > opening. A few revisions ago, I noticed that GPRename stopped remembering the directory I want it to display upon opening. Now it opens in the user home directory instead. Has this little feature been lost by accident during a code change? If so I would welcome either a way to re-enable it, or to make it select a directory of my choice upon opening. Currently at build 148, I find nothing else in GPRename about which to complain ;-) ____________________________________________________________________________________ Choose the right car based on your needs. I've now been succesful in changing the languages! I needed the package libintl-perl. I made many changes in the README and Makefile files and in the locale directory. To change languages, download gprename from SVN, run make install, then start gprename like this: 'LANGUAGE=fr gprename' so this will start gprename in french. I've tried all the different languages and it's working fine except for one bug: accent. It doesn't display them well in my utf-8 system. All the locale file except the nl.po (dutch) which doesn't use accent, use these settings: "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\n" "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n" I have no idea how gettext can use different charset, any help or documentation on this would be appreciated :-) Obtenez des réponses à vos questions ! So, GPRename with gettext is almost there. I finally read enough about it to understand it : http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/htdocs/gettext/README.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gettext I just commited the new revision, I changed the Makefile, gprename, deleted the languages directory and created a new one called locale. All the .po and .mo file will have to be created, but first I'm just trying to make one work. I created a .pot file with xgettext, then convert it to a .po file with msginit --locale=fr then convert it again to a .mo file with msgfmt but even calling 'LANG=fr gprename', the program still shows only english text. I just touched like the first 3 messages to test like File to Fichier, but it's really still showing File. Any help on this would be appreciated. *note1 : in the Makefile only locale/fr/gprename.mo will be copied, I commented the others, I just want one to work before converting all the others language files. GPRename 2.3 is done, it will be out next week, let's just wait one week to test it a little bit more to make sure it's working properly. There's not a lot of changes, it's more about the installation which has been heavily modified, a big thank you to Marvin Stark who made it possible. Now, instead of calling gprename-install.sh, there's a Makefile, simply use 'make install' (see README or 'make help'). This new installation will help gprename to follow the standard set by the Linux User Base and the Linux Filesystem Hierarchy and this new way of installing will also help to produce a debian package and a gentoo ebuild more easily. And there's now a nice man page of gprename in this new version :-) Cheers Le tout nouveau Yahoo! Courriel. I finally fixed that in revision 130. That feature was lost when I added the Glib::Idle call to add a waiting cursor when gprename was busy listing/renaming. The function to keep the selection was still there and working, but because of the idle call, the selection was lost after it was selected. --- Lacrocivious Acrophosist <alt...@ya...> a écrit : > It has been so long ago now that I cannot be certain, > but I had thought that at one point the files selected > for renaming would remain selected after a naming > conflict warning prevented the renaming action from > occurring. > > At present, it appears that if multiple files are > selected for renaming, if there is a naming conflict > and associated warning/abort, the file selections are > lost upon dismissing the warning dialog. So I tried Purrr and namefix to see if they can use backreferences. First with Purrr, it's not that easy to use and doesn't have a lot of options, for example, it doesn't support perl regular expressions, so it cannot use backreferences. Then, namefix.pl, it do use perl regular expression but I can't install it, too bad the documentation is clearly missing, I installed perl-tk since it was complaining it was missing but now it's complaining about Tk/DynaTabFrame.pm and if I comment this it'll complained about Tk/JComboBox.pm. If you can install it yourself, try if the backreferences works, but I'll bet that it won't :-) --- GoogleGuy <goo...@tu...> a écrit : > Thanks, Zurd, I'll look it up in the archives then. Marvin: Does that mean that the deb file GoogleGuy made is not completed or should I go and upload it to sourceforge right away? GoogleGuy: Thanks for the deb file, one less thing to do in the to do list :) You can also give me your name or alias so that I can add you in the credits. For the backreferences, I tried for hours to make it work but to no avail. Even KRename didn't make it work, I don't think it's possible to create a script to use it. There's a good explanation of it from me in the mailing list archives with the subject Backreferences. --- Marvin Stark <ma...@de...> a écrit : > On Thursday 03 May 2007 22:57, GoogleGuy wrote: > > Hi guys, > > Hi, > > > > > thanks for the super-useful tool you're creating! It has been so long ago now that I cannot be certain, but I had thought that at one point the files selected for renaming would remain selected after a naming conflict warning prevented the renaming action from occurring. At present, it appears that if multiple files are selected for renaming, if there is a naming conflict and associated warning/abort, the file selections are lost upon dismissing the warning dialog. This is inconvenient when the selections are, for example, widely separated in the directory listing. Below I have pasted the original request for this fix. _________________________ There is one thing I would like to see, but which I suspect needs to wait for another release. That is the handling of multiple selections upon encountering an existing filename conflict with the selected renaming operation. Specifically, if I have chosen a few dozen files to rename, particularly in scattered groups rather than contiguous entries, if one or more of the filenames I wish to rename conflicts with existing name(s), then upon acknowledging the error dialog I lose all my selection markers. This means I have to reselect, avoiding the conflicting file. If there was another conflicting name beyond the first, then I will get another conflict error on my second attempt, and so lose my selections again. This repeats until my selections no longer contain any conflicting filenames. Sometimes this takes quite a few selection passes ;-) At some point, it would be useful to provide a dialog which lists *all* the conflicting files within the selected range(s). Further, upon aborting the rename operation, it would be useful to retain the selection highlights so that the offending files can be deselected either singly or in ranges, just as they may have been selected in the beginning, singly or in ranges. Perhaps the conflicting files might be highlighted differently from 'normal' selections in the list, making it more obvious which ones need deselecting. _________________________ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
