First, check the menues of your camera, is there a possibility to manually switch PC communication modes? If yes, which modes are available? If there is a USB mass-storage mode, mount your camera as a USB disk drive, like this: modprobe usb-storage mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera (or /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdc1, ...) This way of access does not require GPhoto2. If there is a PTP mode, you camera should work already with GPhoto2, at least if you tell the GPhoto2 frontend that you have a PTP camera. If there is a Normal or Canon mode, you will probably be able to access your camera with the Canon backend, but you need add your cameras vendor and product IDs to the Canon backend. Supply us also the content of /proc/bus/usb/devices for each PC communication mode which you can choose on your camera. If you can already access with the help of these hints or if you have a flash card reader, you should also have a look at these programs (to use with downloaded images, not to download the images): http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/ http://www.cheeseplant.org/~daniel/pages/metacam.html I recommend to the maintainers of the GPhoto2 site to add these links to the link list.
