I am not 100% sure, but maybe "graph" is your friend.
Try:
set label "A" at graph -0.05,-0.05
this should position your label in relative coordinates (i. e. xmax=3D1.0,=
=20
xmin=3D0, ymax=3D1.0, ymin=3D0) to your graph, even for small(!!!) values o=
f x and=20
y.
