I haven't tried these two specifically, but "with points" also plots
outside the boundary.  OK, impulses and boxes are correctly clipped.
Things aer more clearly visible if you additionally

 set tmargin at screen 0.8
 set bmargin at screen 0.2

in my reproducer before the plot command.
