[Gnuplot-bugs] boxes in frequency plots

Hi!

First of all: gnuplot 4 is fantastic!

I'd like to use the "smooth frequency" option to plot histograms and 
plot the histogram with boxes (needed because the "with histeps" is no 
good when there are bins with no members), something like:

plot 'problemsheet_results.dat' u (5*floor(($1)*0.2)+2.5):(1) s f w 
boxes

This unfortunately does not work: when I set the boxwidth the system 
reacts in unexpected ways, for example typing:

set boxwidth 4 absolute

I get some correct boxes but most of them are plotted as boxes with 
zero widths.

If I produce the frequency data myself the "with boxes" option works 
great, as in:

plot 'frequency.dat' w boxes

(I run gnuplot under Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther" -- with a successful build 
I did myself)
