Please try to be more specific.  *What* surface are you trying to plot?
What's abnormal about it?

The usual test plots distributed as demonstrations all work quite fine,
so this is probably something peculiar to whatever it is you're trying
to plot.  Without more details, it's impossible to say what might
possibly be happening.
