That version screen indicates you're using a now outdated 3.8 development
release. Could you re-try this with the release version 4.0?
At least one major bug in handling of 'histeps' was fixed between 3.8i
and 4.0:
* src/graphics.c (histeps_compare): There was a wrong comparison
returned by this qsort-called routine, which caused 'plot with
histeps' buggy.
