[Gnuplot-info] change color palette for each graph

Hi,

I try to change the color of each splot as below, but all the lines in the graph
still get the same color.
#!/usr/local/bin/gnuplot
r=rand(0); g=rand(0); b=rand(0)
set palette model RGB defined (0 r/cm g/cm b/cm, 1 r g b)
splot '</data/STAF/src/scripts/results/plot_data.sh '  u (A):2:3 w pm3d
A = A + 1

if (col<=total_columns) reread

The above script is loaded from this script:

Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?

That's because you misunderstand the working of the rand() function. 
Like just about all pseudo-random number generators in the world of 
computing, rand() returns the same results in every gnuplot session, 
unless you seed it with a different start-up value.  See "help rand".

Thank you for the pointer Hans. I seeded rand with a random number in each
iteration and it still did not make a difference. To make sure I was doing
it right, for testing purposes, instead of using a loop (the script
loop.gnu), I tried to plot just two graphs in the main script as follows:

A=1
set palette model RGB defined (0 0 0.7 0.2, 1 0.5 0 0.45)
sp '</data/STAF/src/scripts/results/plot_data.sh 1'  u (A):2:3 w pm3d
A=A+1
set palette model RGB defined (0 0.2 0.4 0, 1 0 0.3 0)
sp '</data/STAF/src/scripts/results/plot_data.sh 13' every ::1::2 u (A):2:3
w pm3d

And both the above graphs also got plotted in the same color. There is still
probably something I still am not understanding. Can you see what I am doing
wrong? 
I am using gnuplot version 4.4 patchlevel zero.
