[Gnuplot-info] plot mean data point in scatter plot

Hiya,

I have a simple scatter plot of (x,y) values from a data file; can someone
tell me how to plot the mean point?

Just about the only easy way would be something like this:

fit x_mean 'file' u 1 via x_mean
fit y_mean 'file' u 2 via y_mean
set arrow from x_mean, graph 0 to x_mean graph 1 nohead
set arrow from graph 0, first y_mean to graph 1, first y_mean
plot 'file' u 1:2
