Suppose your list of values is in the file E2.dat and you want to plot
these at x=2 (maybe you have other files of values to plot at x=1,
x=3, etc).
Here's one way to do it:
set log y
width = 0.5
thickness = .05
set xrange [0:4]
plot 'E2.dat' using (2) : (column(1)) : (width) : (thickness) with boxxy
