Is it possible to set the z-position of the base in which the contours are
plotted?
Whenever I use "set contour base", gnuplot draws that base at an arbitrary
z-position below the graph.
However, since I want to plot data points inside the contour base, I need
the z-position of it.

Yes. The command you're looking for was 'set ticslevel' until now.
It'll be 'set xyplane' soon. Look it up in your help.
