[Gnuplot-info] Function with a jump discontinuity

Hallo,

I would like to plot a function with a jump discontinuity. I've figured
out that I can use an if-then-else operator. Here is an example:

gnuplot> f(x) = f(x) = (x<2) ? x**2 : 1

This works fine but I don't want a line between those functions.

I hope someone can help me.

plot two functions:

plot (x<2)?x**2:0/0 linetype 1, (x>=2)?1.:0/0 linetype 1

division by zero is the solution.

I downloaded the sources here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnuplot/files/gnuplot/4.6.0/ Unpacked
them and then did the standard
    ./configure --prefix=/usr/local
    make
    sudo make install
 sequence.

After getting a few of the dependencies I wanted installed, it went perfectly.
