[Gnuplot-info] power function

In C and C++ evaluating x*x*x*x*x is faster then pow(x,5).
For Gnuplot this doesn't seem to be the case. Can someone explain why?

That not necessarily true.  Not universally, either.

Because gnuplot is neither C nor C++, conclusions about those don't 
extend to gnuplot.  Not even incorrect ones.
