[Gnuplot-info] how to write & as a label

Dear all,
I am searching to write & in the label as

set label " 788 & 1690" at 1170,100

but I could not manage since 2 hours.
Is there any person who can help me?

So what happened instead?  And what terminal driver are you trying that on?
