[Gnuplot-info] Graph coincides with axes and disappears

Hi!

I use autoscale for the range of the axes, but portions of my graphs 
often disappear behind the top or bottom horisontal axes, especially 
when I plot integer valued functions.

Is it possible to specify that the autoscale function should add a small 
amount, e.g. 5%, so that the whole graph is visible? I don't want the 
graph to reach the top or bottom horisontal axes, but nor do I want to 
specify the axis range manually.

Any ideas? I'm using a reasonably new CVS version of gnuplot.

you could do a dummy plot to determine the yrange
and then extend this range before doing the real
plot, e.g.:

ts.dat:
1 2
2 1
3 4
4 4
5 3

ts.plt:
reset
factor=0.05
set term push
set term dumb
plot 'ts.dat' using 1:2 with linespoints
temp=factor*(GPVAL_Y_MAX-GPVAL_Y_MIN)
set yrange [GPVAL_Y_MIN-temp:GPVAL_Y_MAX+temp]
set term pop
replot

gnuplot> load 'ts.plt'

Not quite, but close enough.  What you're looking for is explained in 
'help offsets'.

Thanks Hans-Bernard, that was just the ticket! I will use

set offsets 0, 0, graph 0.05, graph 0.05

in all my plots.
