[Gnuplot-info] question on date/time samples

To Whom It May Concern:

 

I am working with Gnuplot 4.2 and have a datafile that contains first
column of date/time and then other columns of raw data. 

 

When I plot on dates from last week to current date the x-axis looks
great however when I plot from last year to current date too many dates
show up and I have tried different commands from xtic, autoscale to
others and no luck.  I do use xdata time, set timefmt "%Y-%m-%d.  

 

In my datafile I could have 100-200 dates or more over a course of a
year.  Is there a way dynamical show in the plot for the year with
limited dates showing up on the plot?

You'll have to be a lot more specific than that.  Please distill the 
problem down to a self-contained example case that is small enough to be 
put into email, and expand on what you mean when you say there are "too 
many dates" showing up.
