[Gnuplot-info] caption title with splot

i would like to change the caption for the function i'm plotting.
i tried with 
          splot f(x,y) title "mytitle"
but this gives no result

my code is the following

f(x, y) = y**2 - x**3 +x
set xrange [-10:10]
set yrange [-10:10]
set view 0,0
set isosample 100,100
set size square
set cont base
set cntrparam levels discrete 0.0
unset surface
set xzeroaxis
set yzeroaxis
splot f(x,y) lt 2 lw 2 title "mytitle"

any ideas?

That's because you turned off drawing of the surface.  The key entry 
controlled by the "title" option is the one that goes with the surface. 
  Turning that off, the only key entry you're left with is the one for 
the contour line.

If you want a key entry under your control, I suspect you'll have to 
follow "help contour" on how to write the contour to a data file and 
plot that.
