[Gnuplot-info] plotting bar graphs: missing one datapoint

I am trying to plot a bar graph as an example. Here is the data file I
am using:
#####################
#data
1       10
2       30
3       20
4       40
#####################

and here is the command I am trying to plot the data:
gnuplot> plot "hist.dat" usi 1:2:(0.7) w boxes fs solid 0.9

but the plot is missing the first data point (1,10). I am sure I am
doing something basically wrong ... what is it?

This is on Gnuplot Version 4.0 patchlevel 0

It's not really missing, it's just hard to see.  Have another look at 
the y axis, then ask yourself: what would be the height of that bar, in 
this plot?

Then I guess you'll understand how

	set xrange [0:*]

before the plot fixes it.

Ah, crap! My bad. It was late at night after a long day. Moreover, the
tiny axis tic labels did not help either.

Thanks for pointing that out.

This worked:
gnuplot> plot [0:] [-1:] "hist.dat" usi 1:2:(0.7) w boxes fs solid 0.9

BTW, the last bar is 40 units high and currently it is filling the whole
height of the plot, overlapping the legend in the top right corner. This
is the default behavior? Shouldn't the y-axis be bit longer, say 50
units, to display the legend properly? Just curious.
