[Gnuplot-info] Issues using Gnuplot on Linux RedHat3

Hello:

    I am sorry to take you time but I am having trouble getting up and
running on Gnuplot.
    I have installed the latest version gnuplot-4.2.0 on Linux Redhat 3.
I can get a gnuplot
    prompt but whenever I load my p file I never get a pop up window
with the graph.  Can you
    steer me in the right direction.

That raises two major questions: how did you install it, and what's 
keeping you from updating from that rather massively outdated version of 
RedHat?

The problem almost certainly is independent of RedHat 3 in particular. 
You didn't follow the README, so you didn't pay attention to what 
./configure printed.   So you missed the warning about lack of X11 
headers and libraries.  You'll have to install the X11 development 
packages.
