[Gnuplot-info] multiplot epslatex term help

Hi,

I'm using Gnuplot 4.0.0 on MacOS X.4.8, and TeXShop.

My problem is regarding multiplot output in epslatex term.

I am trying to stack two plots sharing a common x axis.  I can output  
the LaTeX code and the eps file as usual (i.e. as with non- 
multiplots).  I can also successfully multiplot in aqua term, so I  
know the plot is fine, but I cannot incorporate correctly into  
LaTeX.  Only the second of the two plots is included in the LaTeX  
document; and sure enough the LaTeX conversion from eps to pdf lacks  
the first plot.  So I have axis, but only half of my plot.  The weird  
thing is is that the eps file is complete, and I can convert the eps  
to a pdf manually and still see both parts of the plot (although this  
then doesn't sit properly if I include it in my document).

So, what's happening here?  And more importantly, what can I do to  
fix it?

Not exactly surprising.  That really can't work particularly well,
and it certainly didn't in version 4.0.

Upgrade to 4.2 release candidate.

Problem sorted!  Upgrading to 4.2 is unnecessary - and actually gave  
me weird epslatex latex code that i couldn't compile without deleting  
reams of information!  (gnuplot 4.0.0 gave a much simpler .tex file  
part).

So what was needed (after 5+ hours of playing about) was a "pause -1"  
command after the first plot, then the commands for the second plot...

I load all the commands into the terminal from a foo.gp file with a  
command to set the terminal to aqua at the end, so that I can see the  
output.  Weirdly, the aqua terminal has only the 2nd plot when the  
epslatex output includes both plots.  It is necessary to reset the  
terminal between each loading of the foo.gp to prevent getting the  
aqua style (2nd graph) output in subsequent epslatex  output files.

What I have learned is that you can't predict one terminal's output  
by looking at another's.

If that's what fixed it, it was broken in a way that had nothing to do 
with epslatex terminal.  You simply didn't close the output file ('unset 
output') when you should have.

Actually, the aqua terminal terminal should have *nothing* on it, from 
what you wrote.  You seem to have forgotten to mention that there also 
is a 'replot' after the 'set term aqua'.  And it's perfectly normal and 
expected that this will only give you the second part of your multiplot.

This could have been a whole lot less confusing if you had shown your 
plot script.
