[Gnuplot-info] different line colors

Hei All,

I am writing a program using gnuplot and Devillard's interface.

In every session i plot several lines in a window. But they appear
to be in different colors. I want to have them all in one simple color.
As I couldn't solve this problem with Devillard's interface, i want to
ask you if i can set this up through a gnuplot command?

The simplest way would be to define a linetype with your 
preferred line appearance:

   set style line <number> <specifications>

and then use 'with lines linetype <number>' within every 
plot command resp. every plotted graph. Example

   set style line 7 linetype 4 linewidth 2

creates a linestyle with the number 7, which contains a line 
of the type 4 and the width 2. The type is provided by your 
chosen terminal and determines the colour of the line. Use 
the command 'test' and you will get a plot which lists all 
available colours with their numbers on the right side of 
the window. 

   plot sin(x) with lines linetype 7, \
         cos(x) w l lt 7

will deliver a plot with all lines of the specified type. 
The 'with lines linetype' may be abbreviated in the way 
shown above.

No, that's only the second-simplest.  You don't have to define a 
linestyle(sic!) to get a the same linetype on each data set in a plot.

Make that

    plot sin(x) with lines linestyle 7, \
          cos(x) w l ls 7
