[Gnuplot-info] Using splot

Hi, I'm new to gnuplot and I am having trouble with splot. I have a data file
with three columns of data and I simply want to plot a point lying at
coordinates x,y,z given by the three columns. I keep getting messages such
as:  "empty y range [0:0], adjusting to [-1:1]" and the output's no good.
What's wrong?

Hello Gnuplot List

I have a simple gnuplot script for plotting a 3d surface of data read from
a file (named percent_diff.dat) that looks like this:

set ticslevel 0.0
unset hidden3d
set xlabel "x"
set ylabel "y"
set mouse
set nokey
set size ratio 1
set autoscale
set palette gray

splot 'percent_diff.dat' matrix with lines


How can I plot the surface but not connect the surface lines when the
value in the file is of some chosen value? Incidentally when the value in
the file is a NAN then gnuplot automatically does what I want. But I would
not want to rely on abusing this feature to get the plots I want.

Thanks for your suggestions but I found the answer myself. One can use

  set datafile missing

to do what I want.

That's quite impossible to tell for anyone out here, because you didn't 
show us any of the crucial information.  We're not clairvoyant, see?

Please post the actual commands you used, and enclose a small sample 
datafile that can be used with those commands, to reproduce the problem.
