[Gnuplot-info] surface grid

Hi there,

I have a problem with the grid of the surface of experimental data. Is
there a possibility to change the grid "density" in x-direction of a
3d-plot?
Since I have a very large number of data points the grid results in an
almost black surface. I don't want to use something like
splot 'data.dat' ev 2::0::2000: using ...
Is it possible to tell gnuplot to use for example every second data
point for the grid in x-direction?

No.  If you plot with lines, and the data forms a grid, gnuplot will 
plot that.  If you don't like that, you have to re-format your data.
