[Gnuplot-info] Time plots in v4.0

How do I get y, y+delta plots of these job runs

24-03-2006 21:00 21:13
25-03-2006 21:00 21:19

My attempts like

set terminal jpeg
#set timefmt "%d-%m-%Y"
#set xdata time
#set format x "%b %d"
set timefmt "%H:%M"
set ydata time
plot "time.dat" using 1:2:3 with errorbars
plot "time.dat" using 1:2:3 with errorlines

are not giving the right results.  Basically, trying to plot the run 
times of a job on a monthly basis.  Somehow got it into my head, that 
errorlines/bars are the way to go. If this is the wrong way, what's the 
corect method?

& is it possible to do time arithmetic in gnuplot?

Something like this might work:

	set xdata time ; set timedata x "%d-%m-%Y"
	set ydata time ; set timedata y "%H:%M"
	p 'time.dat' u 1:2:2:3 w err

Since you have ylow and yhigh instead of ydelta, you need 4 using specs 
for errorbars.

I'm sorry, that didn't work; I can't seem to find the keyword 'timedata' 
  in the help topics.

Can you please explain?  I got the part about needing 4 specs.

My bad.  That should have read 'timefmt' in both cases.
