Q. How to plot dotted lines using gnuplot or lines
like ---------- or ........?
I am using version 4.0 patchlevel 0 machine i am using
is sun solaris.
 i am not a subscribed member of the list.

Depends on what terminal driver you're using.  Check out 'help plot 
style' for how line drawing styles are generally controlled, and the 
help for your driver, and the 'test' page, to learn about the specifics.

Hi,

We are using "png" terminal for plotting the graphs.
We will be obliged if you send additional information
with respect to plotting styles.  

Meanwhile, we will refer the pointer send by you.

In that case I suspect you're stuck --- the PNG driver doesn't do dotted
lines.  It relies exclusively on colour do distinguish lines.

The easiest options is probably to generate ps files (since they offer the most 
options) and afterwards convert the ps to png with imagemagik or something else.
