[Gnuplot-info] Plotting question

I am plotting a value along the x1y2 axis which is autoscaled.
=20
At certain  points I want to plot a character on the top x axis. The =
actual x1y2 max sacle will vary from plot to plot.
=20
Is there a way I can specify that I want the x to be what I want it to =
be (column in a file ok), but want the x points to be the top value =
which represents the top axis on the x1y2 scale?

Not for a value from some column in some file --- gnuplot doesn't output 
characters in any of its plot styles, so data files can't be used like 
that.  But you can use an x value combined with a y direction coordinate 
specified in units of the 'graph' (--> "help coordinate"), like this:

	set label 'L' at 1.2, graph 0.95
