It's not exactly missing --- it's just not presented in the shape of
'set graphical_object' type commands. Instead, you have to prepare and
plot special-purpose datasets that define these shapes in plot styles
like 'with filledcurves' or 'with lines'. Since these datasets can be
inlined, you don't even need an external file. E.g. here's a square
drawn into a sine curve plot:
plot sin(x), '-' notitle w l
0.5 0.5
0.75 0.5
