the thickness of the border is the same as the thickness
of the used linetype.
when using gnuplot version 4.4.x you may define linestyles
which are used instead of the built-in linetypes:
set style increment userstyles
set style line 2 linewidth 4
this changes the width of the border of style '2' to '4'.
so you need to do this for each linetype/style.
gnuplot 4.5 has a new command for doing this:
set linetype
