[Gnuplot-info] combining data from different input files

Hello list,

is it possible to combine data from different files in one plot
statement? I am looking for something like this:

plot using column(1,file1.dat):(column(2,file1.dat)+column(2,file2.dat))
with linespoints

plot "< join file1.dat file2.dat" using 1:($2+$3) with linespoints

if 'file1.dat' has more than 2 entries per line you need to increase
the '$3' in the 'using' option.

the 'join' command is in the 'gnu coreutils' which are normally
installed on every linux-system, for windows you need to
install it (search for 'GnuWin').

I wasn't aware of the possibility of running commands and using their
