[Gnuplot-info] combining data from two files in one (single) plot?

Hi!

Is it possible (or is there a trick) to combine two colums from two files
for making one plot. I want to produce a difference plot from two different
output files. So something like:

  plot 'file1' using $2 - 'file2' using $2 

Perhaps someone has an idea?

on a unix system:
plot "< paste file1 file2" using ($2-$4)
