[Gnuplot-info] Plotting realtime data from /dev/ttyS0 on Linux

Hi,

before I go in-depth with gnuplot and its manual I want to evaluate,
whether it is the right choice for the task I try to accomplish.

I googled for this but fail to find anything relevant -- nay be due to
the fact that I am no native english speaker and therefore dont have
the right search terms handy.

OpenFormat-like manner.

I pln to implement a small converter to convert this data into a
gnuplot readable format.

The thing, which gives me headaches is: Is it possible (and how) to
read data and stream them into gnuplot so gnuplot is displaying the
current state (and a little of the past) all the time?

Not really.  gnuplot doesn't do real-time plotting.  It can be plenty 
fast, but it won't do any sliding-window buffering of a continuous input 
stream for you.  You would have to do that yourself (e.g. by filling a 
file with the "little of the past" you want to display), and keep on 
sending "replot" requests to gnuplot to update the display.
