It will also make some printouts impossible to generate, though --- 30
days' data would be longer than your paper.

The only way of doing this reliably is to always set your x range to the
same interval, in data units, e.g. always 20 days, and only modify the
starting point. For full stability, you'll then also want to fix all
the margins (--> "help set lmargin").
