Personally, I use homebrew: http://brew.sh/
-It seems to be the least intrusive of the package mangers, and uses the current gnuplot. Once you’ve got homebrew, simply
brew install gnuplot
-though I did have to do something that I’ve now forgotten to make sure I got freetype, for scalable fonts… I posted the answer online somewhere, but forget where! Ahh- the wonders of bash history- here we go:
brew install libgd --with-freetype
