[Gnuplot-info] problem using "set xtics x rotate by 45" when "set xdata time"

I am trying to rotate my xtic labels by 45 degrees.  I can
do this fine when xdata is not set to "time".  If "set
xdata time" I cannot get the labels to rotate.  I am not
sure what to set xtics equal to for time.

set xdata time
set timefmt "%Y/%m"
set xtics [VALUE] rotate by 45
plot "c:\\junk\\plot.dat" using 1:3 with lines

I've tried various numbers for VALUE but it just crashed
gnuplot.  Any tips as to what I am doing wrong?

maybe your VALUEs were too small?
VALUE in this case is in seconds, your data are monthly data.

a VALUE of 60*60*24*30 = 2592000 gives rotated time labels.
but it's better to let the algorithm for positioning the time labels do its
work automatically
(no VALUE).

Don't.  Just leave the interval setting alone:

	set xtics rotate by 45
