[Gnuplot-info] help labels - splot

Dear all,

I am using splot to plot the contour of a 3d surface. I'd like to know if
there's a way to  set the labels of each level in order to display them on
the plot above each corresponding line.

You can set labels wherever you like.  But gnuplot won't inform you 
where in the plot area "above each corresponding line" is.

Sorry, my question is if there is some authomatic way to set these
labels .

I want also to make a suggestion. I think that gnuplot could be very useful
in topography and hidrology applications but to make it more powerful you
should include the possibility to draw non-regular mesh (for instance by
defining the boundaries by means of polylines and creating the grid inside
them)
