Hi bittersweet,
i think this answer is bit late but better than never ;).
in order to have that "dynamic" effect , i remember using
an interface for c called "gnuplot_i" which is based on
unix pipes. For more info check out the gnuplot homepage.
It's easy to handle, a bit tricky sometimes and creates lots of data
files under /tmp :P.
