pointer syntax

Here's a minor syntax thing:

gp_alloc in alloc.c casts the pointer to char * rather than generic *.  (gp_realloc casts to a gneric *.

That has the smell of something that would break on older/offbeat
platforms.  How long ago was (generic *) introduced?


Are you happy with the current state of the don't-send-duplicate-
palettes patch?  Should I add it to cvs?
