Dear Tripal community, After a quick chat on Slack, I've launched a survey as a Tripal issue on github about "VueJS vs ReactJS": https://github.com/tripal/tripal/issues/1045 You are all encouraged to participate, *especially if you develop extensions or themes* for Tripal. All the context is explained in the issue but to make it short the answer to this question could become a Tripal community decision that will impact our next developments in order to avoid future incompatibility issues related to single page application framework choices. Please try to answer before forgetting about the issue! ;-) Thanks in advance for your participation and inputs. Hello all, The TreeGenes team will be hosting another bi-weekly Tripal Core Dev meeting this coming Monday, April 13th at 4pm, EST. This will be a virtual meeting and we are inviting anyone who is interested to come join us! We have an agenda, which can be found here <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1097d2qiMkLOIXjAXtQwyDNGLLEzVlvNO5kv4iw4tX5o/edit?usp=sharing>, where we keep track of the progress we make and add issues that we will be working on each meeting. Please, if you find an issue in the queue or a Tripal-related issue of your own that you would like to talk about or work on with the group, post it in the agenda for the upcoming meeting! The agenda also has a link to the zoom we will be using. We hope you can join us! Best, Peter Richter |

Hi Folks, My apologies at the lateness of the request. We will have our Tripal User's Meeting on Tuesday of next week at our usual time. I'll send out a notice with connection details later. We are looking for a volunteer to provide a demonstration of an extension module their working on, or to propose a topic of conversation for the meeting related to an ongoing project that someone might want help with? In our new meeting format, we are limiting general discussion and trying to provide more time for collaborative discussion. Please let me know if interested. Best, Stephen |

Dear All, Sorry for the multiple postings! The Open Genome Informatics team serves as an “umbrella" organization to support the efforts of many open access open-source bioinformatics projects for Google Summer of Code (GSoC)<https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/>. Among this list of projects are GMOD and its software projects -- GBrowse, JBrowse; Galaxy; Reactome; WormBase; DockStore; Bioconda; and others. Call for 2020 Project Ideas and Mentors: We are seeking project ideas to post and attract talented students to this year’s Summer of Code competition. If you have a project idea for which you would like to mentor a student, please contact Robin Haw, Marc Gillespie, Dave Clements, Dannon Baker, and Scott Cain (emails above). You can also submit your ideas here<http://gmod.org/wiki/GSOC_Project_Ideas_2020>. For more information please refer to the Open Genome Informatics page on the GMOD.org website<http://gmod.org/wiki/GSoC#Google_Summer_of_Code_2020>. The mentoring organization application deadline with GSoC is February 5th at 2 pm EST. So, if you are interested in taking part with the team please let us know as soon as possible. Please forward this to others who might be interested in taking part. If you have any questions please let us know. Thanks, Robin, Marc, Dave, Dannon, and Scott. Dear Tripal Community, As usual in January there will be no online Tripal User's Meeting. Many of us are preparing for activities at the Plant and Animal Genome conference in San Deigo, CA (USA) including the Tripal Hackathon and Workshop. We will reconvene our monthly online meetings in Feburary. For those attending the activities at PAG we look forward to seeing you! Stephen |

Hi All, I'm curious if there are folks out there who would be interested in working together to have a session at our Tripal Hackathon in January related to better integration of Tripal and Galaxy and if so, will you be attending the hackathon? We already have the Tripal Galaxy module (https://github.com/tripal/tripal_galaxy) which supports user-submitted webforms (powered by Galaxy) and an API to use Galaxy to power web apps. We are still making improvements to it! With a new minor release coming again in the next few days. If anyone is interested, please let me know if you can make it and if there's something you'd really want to work on? Is it just building workflows for your site? Or is there missing functionality? One thing I know is missing is the ability to share data in a Tripal site with a Galaxy server, so that folks who use Galaxy naively can pull data directly into it from a Tripal site. If folks are interested in any of these topics let me know and we can form a group to chat about it in our Tripal User's Meeting in December to plan it out. Stephen |
