I am using gle 4.2.5 (visual studio build) and gs 9.21 (32bit) on windows 10 (64 bit) with no problems on several machines

I'll look into building against latest gs version and see if that helps.

Correction: I checked my notes and the latest ghostscript that worked for me in connection with QGLE was 9.22 (not 8.22 as stated before).

This appeared to be the last gs I could find with the legacy installer display.  New installer look seems to be correlated with QGLE incompatibility :-(
