Actually if you use \tex{} in the axis title then you do not need to
set texlabels.
I am not sure what \si and \bar are (perhaps you need to load their
package?) but something like
ytitle "p\tex{$^{1\over{2}}$}"
certainly works. You need to have links to latex in glerc.
