Hi, Do you have a solution for this one, too? Or is there any alternative driver you would suggest to use? Thank you so much! Best wishes, Clemens |

Hello Thank you for producing very useful piece of software to keep some excellent printers working. I’ve just upgraded to a MacBook Air 2018 and wanted to keep printing photos to my canon cp780 I installed the latest stable drivers and made sure the printer was added correctly as per the FAQ However, when I print any photo (basic) the printer loads the paper, shows Busy on its display, but nothing happens. I have to turn the printer off and on to clear. Is there something I can check to try to identify the problem ? Thank you for any assistance Kind Regards Giles |

Hello, I’m having a hard time printing properly with my HP laser jet 6p printer. It looks like it’s supported by the “gutenprint-5.2.14.dmg” release which I downloaded and installed. I also downloaded the “usbtb-1.017.uni.dmg” but it didn’t recognize my printer as one of the possibilities. I currently have a mac mini (2018) with IOS 10.14.2 installed. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank You, Kuwon |

Sorry to be late to the conversation. I checked the speck on the LaserJet P1606dn. It is listed as a Host Based printer. Gutenprint therefore does not have a driver for that. The driver must come from HP to make it work. This is a relatively simple driver that HP refuses to update. The whole series uses the same basic drivers. Can you get Gutenprint or Gimp-Print to support |

Thanks for the thoughtful reply Robert, I'm keen to look at some low level stuff when there's a bit of time, will first try the xml setup and see how that works, not clued up on this software yet. Yes 2 lines of 180 nozzles for each of the four colors is perfect. Rows not required. Just trying to convert the 8 color 9880 to a 4 color, without 4 channels sitting idle. Some people must have achieved this before on these Epsons. Splitting it up at runtime, so that half the drops go to one bank and half to the other, is not something I'm certain Gutenprint could do right now without some low level work. One would want to be careful about deciding which drops go to which bank. Splitting by row, such that rows alternate which bank they're sent to, is an obvious way to go about it, but if the row pitch is the same as the physical gap between nozzles, will result in only half of the nozzles of each bank being used. That will lead to clogging problems itself. A better way would probably be to split between columns, although it would also require a bit more work. I would not expect performance to improve. > On Sun, Dec 16, 2018, 01:06 Robert Krawitz <rl...@al... wrote: > >> On Sat, 15 Dec 2018 23:16:31 +0200, =?UTF-8?Q?Arnold_M=C3=BCller?= wrote: >> > Hi Robert thanks for swift response >> > its to have one type of ink >> > dye sub >> > but utilizing the 8 dx5 ink channels as >> > CMYK/CMYK >> > hope that explains >> >> Still not quite sure what you're trying to do here. I don’t see why it would be a problem. It would look something like this. Only thing I don’t know about is defining the channel “name” more than once. <InkList translate="text" name="ultra3photo" text="Photo Black"> <initSequence>IK\002\000\000\061</initSequence> <Shades> <shade count=“2">1.000000 1.000000</shade> <shade count=“2">1.000000 1.000000</shade> <shade count=“2">1.000000 1.000000</shade> <shade count=“2">1.000000 1.000000</shade> </Shades> <InkName translate="text" name="PhotoCMYK8" text="Eight Color Photo" InkID="CcMmYKk"> <Channels> <channel name="photo3_black" index="0"> <subchannel color="0" subchannel="0" name="Black" text="Black" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="BlackDensity"/> </subchannel> <subchannel color="0" subchannel="1" name="LightBlack" text="Light Black" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="BlackDensity"/> </subchannel> </channel> <channel name="photo_cyan" index="1"> <HueCurveParam name="CyanHueCurve"/> <subchannel color="2" subchannel="0" name="Cyan" text="Cyan" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="CyanDensity"/> </subchannel> <subchannel color="2" subchannel="1" name="LightCyan" text="Light Cyan" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="CyanDensity"/> </subchannel> </channel> <channel name="photo_magenta" index="2"> <HueCurveParam name="MagentaHueCurve"/> <subchannel color="1" subchannel="0" name="Magenta" text="Magenta" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="MagentaDensity"/> </subchannel> <subchannel color="1" subchannel="1" name="LightMagenta" text="Light Magenta" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="MagentaDensity"/> </subchannel> </channel> <channel name=“photo_yellow" index="3"> <HueCurveParam name="YellowHueCurve"/> <subchannel color="4" name="Yellow" text="Yellow" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="YellowDensity"/> </subchannel> <subchannel color="0" subchannel="3" name=“Yellow" text=“Yellow" translate="text"> <ChannelDensityParam name="YellowDensity"/> </subchannel> </channel> </Channels> </InkName> ….. The way this printer is structured I don't believe you'd see improved performance from doing this. Is the goal to have two different CMYK inksets (e. g. a pigment and a dye inkets) available without changing cartridges, or some such? Hi thank you for your OS project For custom inksets found in expensive RIPs, could gutenprint/gutenrip provide CMYK/CMYK dual cmyk on the epson 9880? There's been mention too of having to change the printer firmware too but that's hectic.. Any advice or pointers would help me a lot Best Regards Arnold +27826270888 whatsapp |

It's most unlikely that the few Lexmark inkjet drivers we have would work with the x9350, but there's no harm in giving it a try. Unfortunately, we have no one working on the Lexmark driver, so unless someone steps up and volunteers to do the work, we won't be able to support it. -- Robert Krawitz <rl...@al...> *** MIT Engineers A Proud Tradition http://mitathletics.com *** Member of the League for Programming Freedom -- http://ProgFree.org Project lead for Gutenprint -- http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net "Linux doesn't dictate how I work, I dictate how Linux works." --Eric Crampton |

Good afternoon, I own a Lexmark x9350 that stopped working once I installed Mojave 10.14.2 on my 2012 MacBook Pro. I also have a 2017 Mac Desktop with Mojave 10.14.2 and it never worked with the printer. I downloaded your driver but my printer isn't listed. Is there another printer driver within the GutenPrint driver that could work with my printer? |

Since the Gutenprint printer did work properly a couple of weeks ago, something must have changed. I am going to guess that the first line of testing was to uninstall the " bad" copy of Gutenprint and reinstall a fresh copy. If the results were the same, then I would suggest that it might be an idea to compare the current files for the filter chain with those from a computer back up from a couple of weeks ago when things were working. Check the permissions. You could even check the md5 values to make sure one of the files hasn't been corrupted. Matt |

The filter chains are as follows: Canon: pdftopdf, gstoraster, rastertocanonij Gutenprint: pdftopdf, gstotraster, rastertogutenprint.5.2 gstoraster seems to be part of CUPS, so I suggested to write to the CUPS mailing list.
